Data Entry Scam

This is another data entry scam I found in online jobs so please beware everyone. Take the necessary precautions. You are responsible for yourself so protect yourself from these scammers. Don't do free work and think over about giving work samples carefully. They sometimes post themselves as valid Clients with a payment method verified but this is not an assurance that they are legit employers. The original job they posted is different from the one they would ask you to do. So be wise!

This is a sample scam letter:

Thanks for Bid My Project. This is so simple data entry project.

I Need short test for typing speed before hire in my project.

I need 2000 code/word via typing.If you complete successfully then i will hire you.

You must complete this test within 4-6hours.

I also pay you the test work.So dont worry about your test work.

Captcha Data Entry Scammers

This is my first blog and I feel bad that I have to write the scam that happened to me but I just felt that I have to so I may be able to save others from being victimized.

I just want to give a WARNING to those who are looking for a data entry work out there. Those jobfinder sites where you can find online work at home There are lots of scammers lurking on there. Don't think that the employers there were screened or verified first by that site. You should keep yourselves aware and protected. Read their instructions carefully and don't work unless you get hired by the system. What happened to me was I got victimized and not paid for the work I've done.

I was just a newbie there and applied on some data entry work I've seen. I received an email the next day and the instruction was to type the images or distorted words on the screen. He would pay $3/hr for 5hrs of work per day and would give payment after 35hrs. I didn't know much about this kind of scam since I was new. Since the work was easy and I was overly excited to get my first job I quickly jumped to work. I thought I'm still working within the jobfinder's system. Later just I found out that it was a scam Captcha data entry work. The employer didn't respond to my emails and I was not paid.

So everyone who wants a data entry work please avoid these types of jobs where the employer would ask you to type images or distorted images on the screen. I heard sometimes that they would pretend to ask you to translate pdf files into word. These are Captcha jobs too. Captchas are used by hackers and spammers and you don't want to be a part of their schemes. Even if some are not, I believe there's no need for a mass hiring of Captcha work.

I applied again to another data entry work but I received a similar email again that was offering a Captcha job. This time it was very different to the kind of job they want me to do and what they posted. I guess there are so many scammers there but the online jobfinder is not doing enough to filter scammers. Those scammers can still freely post jobs in different names but the job is obviously a Captcha. So everyone please be careful. Scammers are disguising the work that they are posting too.

The warning signs are these:

1. The job is very simple but they offer high pay per hour.
2. The job posted is written in bad English or wrong grammar.
3. Work may come from Eastern countries but they may change that too.
4. Method of payment is not verified but sometimes this can be change too.
5. Don't rely on good feedback because they may disguise themselves in another account and do the feedback.
6. The employer may ask you to start immediately, just continue the job or finish the job first.

Another thing is there are also employers that would ask sample jobs from you. Don't give them any unless it's necessary. Sometimes those jobs can be divided and they're already receiving free labor just by asking you samples. Imagine just how many of you are applying for that position and giving samples. And if you have no assurance to be paid. Ask the employer to give an upfront payment first before you start to do the work. If you receive an email like the one below, google it first or a part of it and check if that's legit by reading others comments if ever you find something similar with the email you received.

I also give you bonus 10$ if you complete this work within 6days.

First 7days i will give you 3$ per hour.If you work good then i will increase your rate.

Please Don't work more than 5 hours a day.
